Martin Guido Middelhoek was born in Zürich, Switzerland, in 1961.

In 1980, he enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Delft University of Technology, in the Netherlands. He received his M.Sc.degree (cum laude) in Electrical Engineering in July 1986 for a thesis that dealt with a functional language for the description of analog electronic systems. He then joined the Electronics Research Laboratory at Delft University as a Research Assistant to perform research towards a Ph.D. degree, which resulted in the thesis: “The Identification of Analytical Device Models” in April 1992 (ISBN 90-6275-764-2).

From 1992 to 1998, he was employed as a senior digital-circuit designer at Catena Microelectronics BV in Delft.

In 1998, he founded SystematIC Design BV in Delft, a design house for analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems. SystematIC Design counted many of the largest multinational electronics companies as its clients.

In 2007, he started his own IT consultancy company: Middelhoek.com.
